The Body Shop Drops of Youth Youth Liquid Peel (£15) is one of my favourite new products of 2017. It’s from The Body Shop’s recently launched Drops of Youth range, which tackles the ageing effects on the skin of the high levels of pollution in most cities.
Pollutants are invisible particles capable of penetrating to the deeper layers of skin and hair, causing the breakdown of collagen. The Body Shop Youth Liquid Peel is a gel which transforms into a peel to trap and gently lift impurities, pollutants (even the really fine ones) and dead skin cells, revealing instantly fresher, more youthful-looking skin.
I must say I fell in love with the Youth Liquid Peel on first use. I love the fact that you use it on dry skin – allowing me to go from cleansing with my normal cream cleanser or micellar water straight to applying the peel – so it seems to involve less faffing than normal exfoliators.
It only takes a couple of seconds of massaging for the gel to form lumps which you then rinse off. (I always find the description of products like these as “peels” misleading as they make me expect – and hope for – one of those peel masks which you can have great fun trying to remove in one go. I used to use a lemony one from Avon when I was an adolescent doing beauty nights with my mum.)
After use, my skin looks great – even toned, brighter and smoother. And foundation goes on beautifully. It’s a ten from me!
