Sisley Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream (£134) is one of the most feted moisturisers on the luxury skincare market. It’s a daily moisturiser designed to plump up skin and bring back its radiance. But does it work?
Well, it certainly does give the skin a dose of radiance – thanks to the Black Rose aqueous extract which smoothes the skin’s texture and, says Sisley, improves the reflection of light. Alpine Rose extract, which is rich in antioxidants, helps to fight dullness.
As with the other items in the Black Rose range, Sisley Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream smells gorgeous – a beautiful blend of Rose, Magnolia and (my personal favourite scent) Geranium. The texture is not at all heavy or stodgy, as you might expect from a luxury cream; rather, it’s really quite a watery cream which, I’ve found, doesn’t immediately absorb into the skin if you use too much. It’s definitely worth noting that a little Sisley Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream goes a long way so if you try it, just use a teeny amount – you can always add more. (A very good thing, given the cost of a tub!)
I wouldn’t say that I have noticed a tremendous difference in the plumpness of my skin; just an overall appearance of freshness and healthiness. However, I don’t especially care for the Skin Infusion Cream as a base for make-up – I need to use a primer afterwards if I don’t want to appear a little shiny – so I’m now using it at night-time, having started out using it both night and day.
The verdict? A lovely, and versatile cream, which delivered on the promise of renewed radiance but has still to prove its plumping claims – to me anyway!
