Hold the front page! I have found a liquid matte lipstick which I actually enjoy wearing …. Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor (£8.99) is without a doubt the best liquid matte lipstick I have tried – and believe me, I have tried loads. (My favourite to date – i.e., the only one I didn’t mind wearing on my naturally dry lips was Maybelline Vivid Matte.)
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor turned out to be a winner because it is so, surprisingly, comfortable and moisturising – adjectives which don’t usually figure in my assessment of matte liquid lipsticks at all. The highly pigmented colour glides on to the lips with ease, and, with its mango and vanilla fragrance and nourishing texture (a 100% wax-free gel technology), kids the lips into thinking it’s a balm since it moisturises upon application.
I particularly like how Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor doesn’t instantly set – the way that most other matte liquid lipsticks do. It can be moved around a bit and it never feels as if it’s drying the lips out, though after a couple of hours, I usually feel the need to top up for comfort’s sake (another dose of mango and vanilla moisture) rather than because the colour has faded.
The colour isn’t harsh and flat but soft and flattering – maybe it’s more of a semi-matte than a full-on matte. I could swear it makes my lips look a little fuller, but that’s not one of its claims so perhaps it’s the way I’ve been painting it on with the clever designed, tapered applicator.
Can you tell I’m impressed?!
There are seven shades to choose from; I’m particularly taken with Seduction, an exquisite nude, and Kisses, a vampy plum.
Have you tried Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolors yet? Have they become favourites?
