First of all, a confession: Maybelline Master Strobing Liquid (£6.99) is not the kind of product I would naturally gravitate towards. Strobing sounds more like a young girl’s game; not a fortysomething’s. But, encouraged by how much I enjoyed using Bourjois Sculpt Light Strobing Highlighter, I thought I’d give Maybelline’s equivalent version a whirl.
And I’m glad I did. Like the Bourjois one, Maybelline Master Strobing Liquid is a lovely product which you can use at any time to add a bit of a glow or to enhance certain features, such as the bridge of the nose or the brow bone. It’s described as a liquid but it’s more of a cream, and a tiny drop goes a very long way.
Maybelline Master Strobing Liquid has a micro-fine pearl formula which gives it a pearlised finish, and it can be used in a number of ways. You can mix it with foundation for an all-over radiance look, or apply it over your foundation as a highlighter. That’s how I’ve been using it – along the top of my cheek bones and round to the brow bone. It’s extremely easy to blend if you want a fairly subtle effects, and what’s particularly impressive is how long it lasts.
It’s hardly an essential buy, but it’s one of those products which you use, forget you’re wearing it – and then about six hours later you catch a glimpse of your reflection in the mirror and think “Oooh, good skin day!”… So, er, maybe it is a bit of an essential after all – as an ego booster!
