Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

Maybelline Fit Me

Wow, I am seriously impressed with the latest foundation from Maybelline. And yet, I very nearly didn’t even bother trying Maybelline Fit Me Foundation (£5.99) as I imagined it might only be effective on a much younger, and much oilier, skin than mine!

When you open Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, you discover that it’s quite a runny liquid, but one which is very easy to blend and very comfortable on the skin. It managed to immediately neutralise the redness that often flairs up in my skin in the morning but the finish wasn’t remotely cake-like – which is what I would have expected of a foundation for normal-oily skin when applied to a fortysomething face!

In fact, ordinarily, I would avoid such foundations because although my skin still gets shiny (at the age of 45!), it is also usually dehydrated and many of these foundations only seem to work on younger, oilier complexions. In the past, I have found that mattifying foundations are nigh-on impossible to move around my face when applying; they are often heavy, thick and set quickly. Maybelline Fit Me Foundation was the complete antithesis of that.

Perhaps it doesn’t do the biz for the younger set (and I have seen reviews that suggest this), but it certainly worked wonders on my middle-aged, contrary complexion.

Mind you, I wouldn’t describe the finish of Maybelline Fit Me Foundation as matte – it’s more much natural-looking than that while offering decent medium-full coverage. Not only did I notice an improvement in the evenness of my skin tone, and in the shininess, but because it contains lightweight blurring powders, it also gave my skin a flattering appearance in terms of softening wrinkles and lines to some extent. On top of that, it comes in an impressive 20 shades (including six ivory variations – perfect for those of us who are pale but sometimes need to go a shade darker so we don’t look ill!).

I’m not sure about Maybelline Fit Me Foundation lasting 12 hours without the occasional retouch or powdering, but that doesn’t particularly bother me. And for £5.99, it’s a real bargain!
