You might wonder what kind of lip product Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Cushion (£8.99) actually is … Is it a gloss? Is it a lacquer? Is it a balm? What the hell is a lip cushion?!!
Well, if you read the bumf, you might find you’re none the wiser. Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Cushion definitely has a balm element to it as it contains such nourishing ingredients as vitamin E, but it also provides high shine thanks to polybutene. And it comes in some lovely colours (seven in total – check out my Instagram for some of the brighter shades), with the intensity you’d expect from a lip lacquer. I think the “cushion” description comes from the spongey, angled applicator which – says Max Factor – enables you to to apply your lippie without using a mirror.
Personally, I’m not convinced about that last claim as there is no way I would risk applying my favourite shade, the gorgeous Majesty Berry – a beautiful, deep and vampy plum colour – without a mirror, but I could see that it would be possible with one of the nudes.
Since it is a sticky product and one which needs more frequent application than a lacquer, I’d categorise Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Cushion as a lip gloss – but one which definitely performs better than most.
