I don’t know about you, but I have a love-hate relationship with beauty oils. I am very aware of their benefits but I absolutely hate not being able to get the damned stuff off my hands after I’ve applied it. That, however, is an issue I don’t have with the new Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil (£32).
Following on from the success of its Midnight Recovery Concentrate which went on sale in 2010 and helps replenish the look and feel of skin overnight, the American apothecary brand has now launched Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil. A lightweight oil which deep cleanses without leaving an oily residue, it is made from an aromatic blend of pure botanical oils: Squalane, a planted-derived lipid with a natural affinity for skin; evening primrose oil which is rich in Omega-6 Fatty Acids; and lavender essential oil.
It certainly does the job, and in a particularly pleasurable way – which is not something I can often say about either oils or wash-off cleansers. I especially like the way that Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil can be applied directly on to dry skin – you add water afterwards, to emulsify it and turn it into a milk – and I’m pleased to report that it doesn’t leave the skin feeling thirsty or dried out.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil can be used on the face and (unusually) on the eyes but I have to confess that I haven’t tried it on my eyes as I usually do my ablutions while wearing my contact lenses (I am blind as a bat without them – seriously, -11.50 is my prescription!) and I don’t fancy the idea of oil near my eyes while I’m wearing them. So, over to you for testing! Let me know how you get on…
