After being so pleased with my first Glossier experience, it was a bit of a different story with Glossier Moisturizing Moon Mask (£18), one of two masks produced by the new, hot online-only American beauty brand.
The Moon Mask is a cream which you apply on to damp skin and leave for 20 minutes. It contains sweet almond oil, plant-based squalane and hyaluronic acid to plump skin up with hydration, which should help smooth the appearance of fine lines and restore elasticity. Meanwhile, licorice root and lemon fruit extract gently brighten and even out your complexion, while honey and aloe soothe the skin.
It may be described as “the most intensely hydrating treatment we could make,” but Glossier Moisturizing Moon Mask was a bit of a non-starter for me. I tried it several times – a couple of times in the morning and a few times at night – and didn’t feel that it did anything much for my complexion. I used it when my skin was feeling a bit dehydrated and although it felt quite comfortable after I had washed the Moon Mask off, it certainly didn’t feel as if it had had an “extra dose of comforting moisture” – as the blurb says. I still needed the same serum and moisturiser afterwards in order to feel well hydrated.
Put it this way, next time I need an extra dose of comforting moisture, I’ll be turning back to my old favourite – Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask.
