Fenty Beauty Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick (£21) is one of the core products in the new make-up line which pop diva Rihanna launched amidst an international frenzy of excitement earlier this winter. After all the hype, I was really keen to try some of the samples I was sent.
Available in ten shades, ranging from what Fenty Beauty describe as “low-key tangerine sheen to all-out violet iridescence,” the Fenty Beauty Match Stix Shimmer Skinsticks are designed to be longwearing. They contain a weightless, cream-to-powder shimmer formula for easy blending and layering. Versatility is the name of the game, and the Fenty Beauty Match Stix Shimmer Skinsticks can be used as highlighters and blushers; they’re basically meant to be all-purpose complexion enhancers. What’s more, their magnetised tubes click together with some of the other products in the range.
So, how did I get on with Fenty Beauty Match Stix Shimmer Skinsticks? Well the one I tried was the Yacht Lyte shade – a glistening golden peach which I thought would make for a pretty blusher on my fair complexion as I often go for peachy shades. It seemed to need quite a few applications for it to show up but it certainly felt sheer on the skin, and it looked good. However, it just didn’t last very long at all; it disappeared quite quickly. I guess that doesn’t matter too much if you’re going to carry it around with you, but I don’t tend to transport blusher around with me. And this would be far too Irn Bru-like a shade for me to use as a highlighter!
