If you thought you would need to throw more money at foundation once you got into your forties, you probably haven’t come across e.l.f. Foundation Serum SPF25 (£9). This ultra lightweight liquid base is a real find, and is now being stocked, alongside around 100 other e.l.f. products, in Superdrug stores.
e.l.f. is an American beauty company – e.l.f. stands for eyes, lips, face – which was launched in 2004 as an e-commerce business and is now a global brand. The products cost between £3 and £14.50, with e.l.f. Foundation Serum SPF25 coming in at under a tenner. Not that you would know it: e.l.f. Foundation Serum does a much more impressive job than its price tag would suggest.
Despite its weightless feel, e.l.f. Foundation Serum is no sloucher when it comes to providing decent coverage and a natural-looking finish. Put it this way, I first tried it on a day when I was feeling quite run down and it seemed to make my skin look healthier – thanks to thecocktail of vitamins, Grape Seed Oil, Pomegranate Oil and Goji Berry which help brighten, restore, nourish and protect the skin. It evens out light redness and leaves the skin feeling good and looking great. I have dehydrated skin, and I’ve found that it seems to soak up quite a lot of this stuff before I think I look ready to go …
As if all this wasn’t enough of a recommendation, e.l.f. Foundation Serum includes broad spectrum sun protection with UVA/UVB SPF 25 protection – so no need to faff about trying to find a moisturiser with sun protection, or gambling on adding another layer of skincare in the shape of a separate sun screen.
The foundation serum comes in just two shades – which made me even more skeptical before I had tried the product – but I have been finding the Light shade is just perfect. And that’s something that seldom happens in ranges with more choice!
Have you tried e.l.f. Foundation Serum SPF25? How did you get on?
