The latest addition to the Dior Addict family of lip products is Dior Addict Lacquer Plump (£28.50), which went on sale today.
Described as a “plumping lip ink,” it promises to provide eight hours’ of colour while shaping, smoothing, plumping and hydrating the lips. It even says that tests show that it achieves new levels of hydration for a lip ink and that 24 hours after application, lip hydration levels climb 78%.
Big claims indeed. Personally, I am happy if I can find a lip lacquer which is comfortable and doesn’t dry my lips out while I wear it.
Which is why I have been loving trying out Dior Addict Lacquer Plump. It is pretty comfortable – at least for the first couple of hours. It delivers vibrant, intensely shiny colour which makes the lips look full. And it settles, after the initial glossiness fades, into a nice stain. By that point, I’d normally expect to apply another coat of Lacquer Plump – but, in the interests of testing out its claims – I left it until it had really started to become unnoticeable, nearly four hours after application. How you could get eight hours out of it, I do not know!
There are 16 colours of Dior Addict Lacquer Plump to choose from, and these are divided into Classics, Neons and Glitters. I’ve been wearing the Dior Pretty shade – a raspberry pink from the Classics section – which looks quite vampy on initial application. Having both tested it over lipstick and worn it on its own (which is what the descriptions above are based on), I prefer wearing it on top of my lipstick; I think it lasts better and makes more of an impact.
So I would recommend it – unless you are wanting lip colour that won’t need to be topped up every few hours.
