Before I start my review of Clinique Pep-Start Double Bubble Purifying Mask (£24), I should probably point out that I hate water on my face for any length of time. I don’t get my hair or face wet in the shower and if my face does get wet, I dry it as I can’t bear to wait until I’m finished showering.
Maybe that’s partly why I really haven’t enjoyed the first stage of the experience of using Clinique Pep-Start Double Bubble Purifying Mask, when the pink gel transforms into a blanket of tiny bubbles, which lift off residual surface oil, dirt and debris. You’re supposed to leave the mask on your skin for two minutes before you touch it, and I’ve found it difficult to last those two minutes because the sensation is akin to having ants scurrying all over your face. It gives me the willies!
Much more pleasurable is the next stage of using the Clinique Pep-Start Double Bubble: this is when you gently massage the mask (and the ants feeling disappears) with warm water before rinsing it off.
Each time I’ve used Clinique Pep-Start Double Bubble, my skin has looked and felt fresher and smoother, as well as thoroughly cleansed. Personally, I’m not sure that the results of Double Bubble are worth the toil and trouble of enduring the scurrying sensation, but if that feeling doesn’t bother you, then this could well be a winner for you.
How do you feel about bubble masks? Do you enjoy the feeling or does it give you the heebie-jeebies too?!
