Clarins SOS Comfort Nourishing Balm Mask (£30) is my favourite of the three SOS masks recently launched by the French beauty company and designed to provide instant results.
A thick, creamy balm-like mask, Clarins SOS Comfort contains wild mango butter to nourish and soften the skin, and mango oil – which is rich in fatty acids – to protect against dehydration and help restore suppleness to the skin.
Clarins SOS Comfort was also created to tackle dryness and help those of us with dry skin to still be able to achieve a glowing complexion. Unlike dehydration, which is temporary, dryness is a permanent skin condition. Skin can feel rough, uncomfortable and tight, thanks to a low level of sebum in the hydrolipidic film on the skin surface. The SOS Comfort Nourishing Balm Mask envelopes and nourishes the skin in a rich, buttery cream texture.
You leave the Clarins SOS Comfort on for ten minutes, preferably – as Dr Olivier Coutin-Clarins, the managing director of the brand, says – in the bath, where the pores will be open, allowing greater absorption of the goodness, and also preferably after exfoliating the skin. Tissue it off, and you should find your skin feeling nourished, comfortable and smooth.
I’ve been using Clarins SOS Comfort for a few weeks now, and I love it. It feels lovely while it’s on, and it leaves the skin looking radiant and feeling extremely nourished. I have mostly used it at night and found that my skin looked great the next morning. Used before make-up, I find that I don’t really need any moisturiser – it would be overkill as my skin feels so well moisturised by the mask.
It’s certainly booked its place in my skincare regime for the cold winter that lies ahead!
