Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Creme (£66) is the latest addition to Chanel’s collection of hydrating skincare which I have long loved. The Hydra Beauty Serum in particular is probably one of my all-time favourite skincare items and I have turned to it many times when dehydration has been an issue. I also adore the Hydra Beauty Gel Creme – together these two products are a sort of crack team for sorting out dehydrated skin.
So I was excited to try Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Creme, which came out a couple of months ago. It is very like the Hydra Beauty Gel Creme in that it has a cool, refreshing feel on the skin but it is the first cream to have camellia “micro-droplets” – which contain camellia extract preserved in its purest form – through it. These tiny jellied droplets fuse with the skin upon application and penetrate deep within it, leaving the skin replenished and – says Chanel – radiant and more resistant to environmental stress thanks to its reinforced antioxidant action.
That’s the science part .. How did I get on with Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Creme? Well, I’ve been using it for more than two months and although I love it, and enjoy how it feels on my skin, it’s doesn’t come close to the existing Hydra Beauty moisturisers as far as my skin’s needs are concerned. When my skin feels dehydrated, it still cries out for the afore-mentioned serum and gel-creme; Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Creme just doesn’t cut it in times of dehydration – perhaps because it is described as being for all skin types, rather than for mine!
