Could this be the one I asked myself when I got my hands on the new Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick (£8.99) for the first time .. Could this be the matte lipstick that works for me, with my naturally dry lips?
I certainly hoped so once I had clocked the gorgeous array of colours in the new Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick collection – 12 shades, ranging from nude pink to deep berry, and featuring some exquisite pinks and red variations.
Over the last week, I’ve tried a couple of shades of the Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipsticks – Flamin Rose, which turned out to be a slightly violety/borderline bubblegum pink and Abrico’dabra which is more terracotta/orange than peach on me – and I found that they glide on beautifully. The colour is intense and quite dramatic, and the texture, on application, feels like liquid.
What I liked about using the Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick was that it didn’t immediately set as many matte lipsticks and matte lip liquids do. It felt pretty comfortable, even on my naturally dry lips. I became more aware of the feel of the lipstick on my lips as time went by – because it doesn’t move when you purse your lips. And I was a disappointed to find that it started to go a little bobbly along the middle of my lips after I had eaten – though the colour on the rest of my lips remained in place, and it certainly does keep the lips stained for a very long time.
I’d say that Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick is the best matte lipstick I’ve yet come across and would certainly – at the moment – be the one that I would turn to if I was desperate for a matte lip. Which, frankly, is not a likely scenario!
Have you tried Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick? Would you recommend it? Do you like the matte trend – or, like me, are you a happier person with shiny lips?!
