Ooh, Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color (£24) is one of the prettiest lipsticks I’ve seen in a long while. Just look at the black tube with its chic stripe in the same colour as the stick it contains.
Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color was designed to leave a stained flush of colour on the lips for a casual, effortlessly stylish, “just-kissed” look. It pairs a soft, matte pigment with a blotted-down finish for a lived-in look that should, say Bobbi Brown, last all day.
I’m not sure I could go all day without reapplying my lipstick – I like to reapply it after I’ve eaten, for example – but Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color certainly does have impressive staying power; much more than you might expect for a product with something of a balm-like feel – thanks to the fact that it contains Vitamins E and C as well as nourishing beeswax.
I’m quite smitten with Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color. First of all, the colours – there are 20 to choose from – are absolutely gorgeous, especially the medium to darker shades. The texture is lovely too; I didn’t find that it looked good to go with just one swipe of the stick – I found it needed several – but once it was on, it looked great and remained so for hours.
I particularly like the fact that Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color isn’t completely matte; it has a much softer finish for a less overly made-up look. Which is certainly a lot more flattering than a harsh matte, and – to my mind – is a lot sexier. I guess it’s the lipstick equivalent of slightly tousled, just-out-of-bed hair …
