Benefit Roller Liner Eyeliner

March 4, 2019

I was little apprehensive when I first clapped eyes on Benefit Roller Liner (£20.50) earlier this year. I’ve been a devotee of liquid eyeliner since I was a student in Paris in the early 1990s and came across the first eyeliner to give me an eye line that didn’t get smudged and leave me with “repeat marks”.

I’ve never found a crayon or pencil that stays put – despite breaking rank from liquid eyeliner on a regular basis in order to see if the market has improved for folk like me who don’t wear eyeliner well. So it’s pretty much been liquid eyeliner since 1993 but even within this type of liner there are pitfalls. Every time I try a new one, I wonder if it will be easy and comfortable to use, and if it will stay put all day or disappear. These were my thoughts when I cracked open the Benefit Roller Liner to try.

However, I needn’t have worried. It may have a felt pen style nib but – unlike many others with that feature – Benefit Roller Liner is soft against the skin and no pressure is required when you start to draw your line. (Sometimes, felt tip pen nibs can be hard and unyielding and they drag the skin.) The waterproof, long-lasting formula lives up to its promises too: Benefit Roller Liner seems to last extremely well and through the sorts of circumstances (tears, stress, heat, rain etc) which routinely cause other liners to disappoint. It may be waterproof but it is easily removed with micellar water.

It has a matte finish and is available in both black and brown. I’d say it has leap-frogged over all the other liners I like, straight to top place!
