Well, I have to say I was not expecting Benefit POREfessional Pearl Primer (£27.50) to be of much use to me. I’m not too troubled by open pores (though I have them!) – which is the issue that the original, hugely successful, POREfessional tackles. This new variation on the theme, Benefit POREfessional Pearl Primer, does the same job but with a pearly twist.
I may not be bothered by my pore situation, but I do like a primer which smoothes the skin, makes it look more radiant and awake and boosts the appearance and staying power of my foundation. And Benefit POREfessional Pearl Primer certainly ticks all those boxes. What I particularly like about Benefit POREfessional Pearl Primer is its soothing balm-like texture which seems to instantly give you baby-soft skin while evening out imperfections.
However, as someone who still – at the age of 46 – is prone to shiny skin as the day goes on, I’d say that Benefit POREfessional Pearl Primer is probably not my ideal primer as my shine has broken through at some point each time I’ve worn it. I don’t think it’s because of the pearly aspect which is very subtle and just makes the skin look fresher, rather than shimmery – at least on me. I think it’s just that this isn’t the perfect primer for my strange combination of dehydration and shine-prone skin! Nevertheless, it’s a lovely product and one which is probably best prescribed for ladies with normal, dehydrated and dry complexions.
What do you think? Are you a POREfessional convert?
